Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

  • Checking in — November 2008

First things first — I have been officially accepted for Graduate School — just got the official letter today. (Can the person who left the comment about grants and calling the dean please let me know who it is I’m to call?) Second — I’m pretty much off all meds in hopes of “resetting” my… Continue reading

  • Gladys Murphy Nance Oser — First-Person Family Memoir

Recovered Oser family-history source — five-page typed memoir scanned and emailed to Danielle on November 3, 2008. Gladys says in the text that she researched her birth record in the summer of 1985, so the memoir was written in or after 1985. This is a best-effort transcription from the surviving scan. Obvious typewriter overstrikes are… Continue reading

  • A week with the Oser’s …

Not sure where the time has gone — somewhere between swim lessons, cub scouts, figuring out what is for dinner and finding colder weather clothes time has just slipped by. So here’s a brief summary. I applied for graduate school at Lindenwood University. I’m looking at the MA in digital media and I can pull… Continue reading

  • Into the woods …

This past weekend we went on our first “official” boy scout family camp-out and a good time was had by all. In preparation for this notable event Morgan and I made a pilgrimage to Uncle Sam’s (the local Army surplus store) where we were clearly not the typical clientele — but alas we found what… Continue reading

  • Checking in — October 2008

Between the extra focus on reading, letter sounds, math and who knows what else and trying to get stuff up on eBay I’ve been a very bad blogger as of late. SO here’s the current report … Tyler is working very diligently and getting very good at earning candy corns from me. Grandpa Oser has… Continue reading

  • THE Parent Teacher Conference …

This would be more aptly names the Patent Teacher Conference Disaster, but I didn’t want to scare you. Let’s preface this with a few things First — Tyler started first grade August 13, our first conference was on Wednesday, Oct 1. Second — I cry really easily. I’ve tried to control it. I’ve tried blinking.… Continue reading

  • Back From Kauai, Back to Reality

We just got back from our anniversary trip to Hawaii, which was wonderful, and now it is very hard to be home. We did not take the boys. And of course, on what should have been my first day back at work, Morgan is running a fever. So I am still in my pajamas eating… Continue reading

  • Pat Oser — Finding the Family Albums

Recovered Oser family correspondence — September 28, 2008. Pat Oser forwarded this family-photo exchange to Danielle while the family was gathering photographs. Body preserved verbatim. Well, what do you know. Mike had some of Mom’s albums after all. I will try to get them sometime in the next couple of weeks and start scanning them.Hope… Continue reading

  • Kauai …

And of course I must note that no vacation of ours could be complete without some kind of mishap — or trip to urgent care. I’ll preface it with we’re both OK. In my attempt to be a fun loving, adventurous gal I decided that Matt wasn’t the only one who could do the rope… Continue reading

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
