Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

Life with boys … moving

Life with boys … as of the end of the month the boy will officially graduate and has a real job … but it was with mixed emotions that we helped him move from his school apartment to his new big boy place earlier this week … and he was almost packed when we arrived … we needed to box up the kitchen and his shirts still … cool … I saw 10 or so shirts … no biggee …. no, we were talking 8 linear feet of shirts still waiting in the closet … and since we had the car loaded at 9 pm and he didn’t want to leave everything in the parking lot overnight we might as well drive it to the new destination … a few more hours away (I must add this was after playing a rousing game of keep away with his roommate’s dog who gleefully escaped to chase a rabbit for at least 20 minutes) … so like theives in the night, we pulled into the new apartment at midnight … and it was still 95 degrees in liquid air because who doesn’t choose to move on the hottest day of the year …we were all soaked by the time the last box was moved in … and we still had not uncovered the shower curtain … and the mattress had yet to be delivered … so camping we went … but it wasn’t really until this afternoon when he left our house after his second run with what he currently wanted from his childhood bedroom that it really hit me … he is making his way in the world now … and it it is weird … and I was reminded that he is only a few hours away … not halfway across the country … and I really wish I could talk to my mom now … this is a whole different kind of empty-ish nest … he is not coming home for school breaks anymore … I may see him for a bit for some holidays … and I am not quite ready for it … and might not be for a while …

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
