Recovered Beck/Ray family image source — March 10–11, 2015. Barbara Beck was scanning older family photographs to take along on a March 14 visit to the restored adobe property.
Barbara wrote: “Have been scanning some old, old pics for the iPad to take to the Adobe tour this Saturday Mar 14. Thought you’d like some, too.”
Four surviving labeled photographs
- Adobe w pool 1936.jpg — the adobe property with a swimming pool, dated 1936 in Barbara’s filename.
- Ellen w Wm 1936.jpg — Ellen with William, dated 1936 in Barbara’s filename.
- WRB 4 mos.jpg — William Ray Beck at four months, according to Barbara’s filename.
- Bill, Betty, JP circa 1943.jpg — Barbara’s own tentative identification/date from the filename.
The next day Barbara explicitly said the circa-1943 date was an estimate based on the children’s apparent ages. She also said she had just learned that the Ray family property had been called Sun Ray Ranch; she had previously heard it called simply “Ray Ranch.”
Barbara was trying to understand why the family was living there around the time of the circa-1943 photograph and was also newly learning that Grandma Ray had a pool. She planned to visit the renovated adobe on March 14 with other family members.
Status: this four-image batch is recovered and labeled as far as the original email supports. The circa-1943 date remains Barbara’s approximation rather than a verified date.
