Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

Peter Zeimet — Boomtown or Bust

Recovered family correspondence — March 28, 2008.

So, I get in there and they are out of lots of things…….including soup and the main kitchen brought some down before they closed………and it was fish gumbo……that was spoiled…….and then people started complaining the prices were different than on the menu. Someone loaded the wrong program into the computer somehow for the graveyard menu.

So, I am busy voiding everything off (I have a line that was complaining) and I missed the midnight date roll and was working out of the wrong cash register…………….and so the cash will not balance in either register.

Other than that, it was not too bad of a night. The waitress on duty had some teeth work done and had to go home early. So, I took over for her and the cocktail waitress from the pits came in complaining the other one left without giving her a break and YAP YAP YAP………so I dealt with that AND SHE SAID OK AT THE TIME…………..and then THE BARTENDERS WERE SCREAMING BECAUSE SHE LOCKED HERSELF IN THE CAR AND WOULD NOT COME OUT.

I was real tempted to pour some fish chowder down her convertible top after I poked some holes in it. HOW ARE YOU TODAY?

Danielle replied: “Don’t want your job — ever.”

March 18–19, 2008 — before the Boomtown shift

Peter wrote that he was starting work at Boomtown in Verdi, supervising the restaurant at night. He considered it a good job for the moment, especially because the company still offered benefits that many employers had cut.

The next day he explained the economic backdrop: Reno unemployment had risen sharply, construction, warehousing, casinos, and retail were all struggling, and even large employers were cutting jobs. Peter wrote that he had taken the best opportunity he could find and expected things to remain lean until what he called the “invisible recession” eased.

Those messages set up the later March 28 “Boomtown or Bust” account below.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
