This world really is a small place … I started this She Remembers Pearl Harbor project in 2001 … a few months after my Grandma AraBelle Fuller Zeimet died … I have not made as much progress as I want to, but all is not lost … I work on bits each day and someday I will be able to share her WWII story with you.
As part of my ongoing project I set-up alerts on eBay and Google to watch for keywords like “remember Pearl Harbor” and various names including “Zeimet” … and about a month ago I had a ping for Zeimet …
I contacted the seller (who lives in Florida) who had some images of the Zeimet family in Pringle, South Dakota … I made arrangements to buy the lot … this guy has about 70,000 postcards and images on eBay so it took a bit to find the ones I was interested in … and they arrived today … and yes, many of the postcards are addressed to my Great Grandparents … and there are quite a few that I can’t identify yet …
And then I got to the bottom of the pile … and there I found a couple of cards with little pieces of notebook paper included that helped identify the locations … and my heart skipped a beat … the white slips of paper are written in my mom’s handwriting … my Mom died in 2006 …
I checked with the seller and he thinks he got the cards in a lot of rodeo images that he bought on eBay years ago … I have no idea where they came from … but it may be the signal I needed … time to get this done …
