Graduation in 2020 is apparently one more thing we are doing on a “we’ll see” basis.
The last day of school is May 21. Graduation is currently scheduled for July 26 — maybe. Tyler has AP Biology and AP Art, Morgan has AP European History, and all of the exams are happening from home. I have graduation announcements with a date I may not even be able to use, so for now I’m just holding onto them.
Tyler is headed to IUPUI to study Informatics, where we hope he can put both his scientific and artistic sides to work. On April 27, the school confirmed that he had a 4.10 GPA and six semesters of college and AP coursework, qualifying him for Magna Cum Laude honors.
We are so proud of this kiddo — especially when I think back to first grade, when one teacher had basically thrown in the towel by the second month.
Right now he is upstairs working on AP Biology. We have no idea exactly what graduation will look like, or what college will look like by fall.
Just keep swimming.
July 26 update: The graduation ceremony did happen. Tyler and the Class of 2020 finally walked on Sunday, July 26. Four days later, the school notified families that one graduate who attended the ceremony had tested positive for COVID-19. Students had been socially distanced during the ceremony, and the school began contact tracing for anyone who may have had close contact. Even the long-delayed graduation came with a 2020 footnote.
