Recovered Beck family correspondence — April 25, 2020.
During the COVID stay-at-home period, Barbara Beck liked the idea of the boys camping in the backyard and pointed out that it was “actually a family tradition, sort of.”
She remembered a cousin, Rosa, who moved into a storage box in her backyard when she was 16. Barbara also remembered that John Beck had lived in a tent in the desert around 1929, before he met Ellen Ray and began working on the adobe house.
Barbara’s conclusion for two Boy Scouts stuck at home was simple: a tent, some books, and a little family precedent.
