Tonight I sewed Tyler’s last merit badge onto his sash … and I may have shed a tear or two.
On Tyler’s 18th birthday, in a few weeks, he will “age out” of Boy Scouts and will no longer participate as a youth, ending what has been a 12-year experience for him.
This week he has already started moving into the next phase with acceptance to his top-pick university and a few others as well. Morgan is already making plans to turn Tyler’s basement art studio into a gaming center.
And I am not really ready.
I don’t really get a choice about whether I am ready or not — I know — but it still will not be an easy transition.
He has worked really hard and we are so proud. We are lucky.
