Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

Jo Zeimet — Where We Left Peter

Recovered family correspondence — September 5, 2019. Original email from Jo Zeimet describing where Peter Zeimet’s ashes were placed.

Because Peter had not left instructions, Jo wrote that the family decided to “do All.”

A small portion of his ashes was buried behind AraBelle’s headstone because, as Jo wrote, “They were always close.” Another portion was scattered in the field behind the Zeimet family graves because Peter had loved to travel. Jo sang the bassoon part from Bolero and played Amazing Grace facing the Zeimet headstones, joking about the “stony-faced audience.”

The last ashes went to the quiet south side of Stockade Lake beneath a healthy ponderosa pine. Jo remembered that Peter had enjoyed fishing there as a boy and wrote that he now had a beautiful view of the lake and granite hills.

The original email includes eight photographs documenting the cemetery, landscape, and Stockade Lake locations.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
