Morgan’s middle-school counselor emailed to say that Peer Ambassadors and Band were scheduled at the same time, meaning he would have to choose between them.
My first reaction:
“Ugh … that is is going to crush him. He’s at camp this week so I can’t get an answer until Sunday. We’ll let you know.”
The next day I asked the obvious desperate-parent question: “Could he do 7th grade band again?”
July 13 update: Morgan took over the problem himself. He emailed the school explaining that he really wanted to keep both Band and Peer Ambassadors and asked whether he could participate in Peer Ambassador activities without the class, or possibly take 7th grade Band as an independent study. He ended with the practical question: how had band kids handled the conflict in the past when the schedule made the two programs overlap?
