Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

Digging Into AraBelle’s Story

In the process of digging into the family history, I finally found a few answers — and about 5,000 more questions.

AraBelle married James Solomon on January 23, 1943. Their daughter Sherilene Marie Solomon was born in Honolulu on December 20, 1943, and died three days later. She was buried at Schofield Cemetery in Hawaii.

AraBelle returned to the mainland in November 1944 while pregnant with Lani — LaNonne LiAnne Solomon — who was born February 2, 1945, in Glendale, California. James remained in the military until October 1945, and I still do not know exactly when they were reunited.

They later had a son, Jerry Lee Solomon, born November 20, 1946, in Van Nuys, California. He died the following day and was buried at Grand View Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

AraBelle and James divorced in May 1947. She married Peter Zeimet on November 6, 1949.

Facebook also helped me find Tim Turber, James’s stepson, who then put me in contact with James Solomon Jr. — one of Lani’s half-brothers. There is a half-sister too.

So I have a few answers now. Naturally, every answer seems to create another branch of the mystery.

Recovered from a June 28, 2012 family-history email originally titled “Digging …”.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
