Grandma Project — June 2011 Professional Research Findings

Grandma Project research record — June 2011. This draft preserves the status and conclusions reported by professional genealogist Jane Bramwell. Where Jane described something as possible, likely, or speculative, it remains labeled that way here rather than being treated as established fact.

By mid-June, the first professional genealogy packet had arrived. Danielle wrote on June 17: “Just wanted to let you know I have gotten the packet. I’m looking forward to seeing the docs from Hawaii and the other obit. From there we can decide what to do next.”

On June 20, Jane reported that the obituary for Vera M. Brazelton had arrived. She said it provided Vera’s birthplace but not her maiden name. She also cautioned that the children were still difficult to sort out. Her working conclusion at that point was that James Leonard Solomon had married before Vera and that Vera was stepmother to James and Patricia, but she explicitly noted that further records were needed.

Jane identified several next-step records: Vera’s Social Security application, a possible marriage for James Leonard in Youngstown, Ohio or Richmond, Indiana, and a marriage for Vera to Turber. She also noted a possible Vera in the 1930 census in Princeton, Gibson County, Indiana, but treated that as a lead rather than a confirmed identification.

Danielle decided on June 23 to pause additional paid research after getting answers to several of the main questions, while waiting for the already-ordered Hawaii material and certificates to arrive.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
