Thanks for all your support at home tooJ From: Danielle Oser [mailto:danielleoser@yahoo.com] Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2011 12:07 PM To: Dorn, Susan Cc: Matt Oser Subject: Re: student info Hello - He is such a funny duck sometimes. We are on him all the time about slowing down, stopping at periods, not skipping words - I guess we'll just keep on him about it. We're working on the sentence dictation too, not getting very far, but working on it. Happy to hear he is done with AR (and it only took two weeks for him to get me an answer:) ) We do listen to quite a few stories on tape although we haven't tried the read aloud after listening trick. Thanks so much for all of your help, it has made such a difference. In listening to him read, I am reminding him about reading slowly to pronounce each word. Last week, I checked out a book about dinosaurs that had a corresponding tape . The story has rhyming words and I feel that if he is hearing someone else read, it will help him with the fluency. He read some of the book for the first time last week, listened to the tape this morning and then read to me. I like the way he used expression in his voice. When there were times that he skipped over a word, I had him reread to me after I modeled for him. On another note, I am proud of his greater success on the Spelling word tests, as his scores have improved greatly. I know that the dictation sentences are challenging for him. He has a positive attitude and tries hardJ He was excited to tell me this morning about the palate expander being taken out, as he opened his mouth to show me when we were reading. Have a good day!
