http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbZzP_SDexc&feature=related - a 2007 luxury model.........it had all the moden conveniences except power windows.............they are FOLD DOWNS............NOT ROLL DOWNS. THEY DO HAVE HEATERS, STEREOS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND A FAIRLY GOOD TRUNK. THESE LITTLE THINGS AMAZE ME. EVERYTIME WE GIVE A BAND CONCERT AT THIS METHODIST CHURCH, SOMEONE DRIVES AN IDENTICAL CHARLESTON MODEL JUST LIKE THIS TO IT. I SEE IT IN THE PARKING LOT. ONE TIME, IT DROVE AWAY AND WAS JUST LIKE A NORMAL CAR..............WELL, IT SHOULD BE BUT FOR SOME REASON, THEY APPEAR LIKE A TOY OR SOMETHING. THEY ARE REALLY QUITE RUGGED.......WELL, WITH 60 YEARS OF CONTINUAL PRODUCTION AND REASONABLE SALES WORLDWIDE, THERE MUST BE SOMETHING RIGHT WITH THEM. They did not sell that well here after the early 70,'s, though. They did not go fast enough for us. If you went 75, it was downhill with a tailwind.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU70ekyF25E&feature=related - if you do not have time, just watch a couple minutes of this factory assembly line in Argentina dated 1990. The car weighs only 800 pounds out the door. You can see the workers lifting the entire frame of the car like it was a lunchbox. The actual roll cage DOES pass crash standards..............I don't know how, but it does. They can install extra cross bars on the doors for crash protection. You fold them down after getting in. The later models had air bags, too. They were more expensive than the car. But, with bas being so much now, people in other countries are SCREAMING for Citroen to introduce them again. The delivery truck got 50 mpg loaded down and lasted just as long as a big truck did. They had motorhome versions, too. Citroen released some factory photos of their new one and it had an egg streamlined body. I think people want the old one back. From the 1050's to somewhere in the 80's, about 30% of the cars on the road in much of southern Europe, north Africa, and southern South America were just these little cars. Probably half of them are still in daily use. OH - THEY HAVE 4X4 ONES TOO and they are the hot ticket in Europe now for off road competition.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPy3nqULbpI&feature=related - one such off road competition. They do not work great like a Hummer or specially equipped jeep, but they are tiny little cars with 29 horsepower.............considering, they do a great job off road. Now they did make some special 4x4 models, but the two cars on this one are REGULAR STREET 2 wheel drive cars. I am blown away

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7ZCbgNnoZ8&feature=related - this looks scarey as it is two 2cv's crashing into each other. But, there is NO damage to the passenger compartments. They actually were safer than most cars on the road..............and massively safer than cars built during their original first 4 decades of production.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE LITTLE DARLINGS? I like the british nick name of POT PIE - PZ

Follow-up: Peter sent two more 2CV clips because apparently the first batch was not enough. One showed a 2CV trying to outrun a go-kart on a figure-eight track; the other was a hot-rodded drag-strip version racing a Porsche 911.

THIS IS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN…

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
