Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

Happy New Year …

Here we are with only a few hours left of 2008 — The boys are bouncing off the walls and can’t wait to see the ball that drops (but doesn’t break) fall. You see last year we showed them the ball drop on You Tube at 8ish and put them to bed. This year Tyler is learning to tell time and our trick isn’t working.

We’ve enjoyed our “carpet picnic” with a menu planned by the boys — ravioli (no sauce), cocktail weenies (cause I couldn’t find corn dogs in the chaos of the store today), grapes, chips and salsa, shrimp, stuffed cream cheese sandwich (Matt’s request) and watermelon. (Mindy accused me of just raiding the fridge and pulling out anything that was left — no we made a special trip for these delicacies thank you very much.)

Matt has made the traditional red velvet cake — with fondant this year. Why red velvet cake? Because Matt proposed on New Year’s Eve and he told me he had a surprise for me — it was this blood red cake. Then he said he had a second surprise — knowing what the first surprise was I was no hurry for the second — till I found out it was a diamond. So now we make it every year. Why fondant, because Matt is totally intrigued by the stuff — too much Ace of Cakes for us.

I’ve been thinking of the past year and trying to pick out the high points — I’m not sure what to pinpoint exactly. We all stayed relatively healthy (for us anyway, no overnight hospitals stays constitutes healthy). The boys continue to grow and learn by leaps and bounds every day. They are finally at a point where they can play together for quite some time with their imaginations leading the way (it’s such a wonderful development). Our families are doing well and despite the economic woes this year we are all still afloat. Now if the state of my house is any indication of where I am mentally this year we are all in trouble. It’s such a disaster in here I don’t even know where to start. I can’t get the holiday decorations put away because I can’t get into the basement. It’s a catch 22. I guess I’ll catch up next year 🙂

I wish you all a happy and healthy new year (and if anyone wants to come help me clean you are more than welcome.)

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
