Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

Peter Zeimet on Edgemont, Uranium, and the Ranch

Recovered family correspondence — February 22, 2007.

Mining operations likely would not employ people able to afford million dollar expenditures. Most of them have a tendency to move frequently and Edgemont is likely to have a surge of trailers come in.

The ranch is not on the same geological type formations and has no uranium laden dirt. The uranium fields were on the western slope basically near to the Wyoming border extending up to Newcastle and beyond towards Sundance/Aladdin west of Spearfish over the Wyo. line. The hills are totally different having been pushed up through that crust of earth a long time ago.

It said there would be 100-150 jobs which is small as the mill had 350+ workers. I think they are digging it out of the ground using a slurry mix and then sending it somewhere else for refinement.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
