Lessons learned the hard way lately …
- The part for the electric train was 40 cents, labor $50 — lesson learned (by Matt this time) ask about price before agreeing to have train fixed. This is a long story — you see my parents bought Tyler and Taylor trains when they were about 2 years old — and these are not the small trains, these are the mega, manly trains. (Because everyone buys a 2 year old a train they can’t possibly play with.) In 2007 we set up Mindy’s at my Dad’s and shipped mine out to St. Louis directly, so it was a big surprise to pull it out of the box for the first time and discover that the engine was broken. Matt and the Internet to the rescue found someone to take a look at it — and this rest is history.
- Just as I get one kid better the other will inevitably get sick. Morgan is home, Morgan has been home. His asthma is acting up. He’s coughing like crazy and needs breathing treatments every four hours. Matt’s Dad came down this afternoon so I could go into work. (Where I am now, writing this blog post.)
- I just can’t win — I’ve been trying to do something with the extra TV that has been in my room for several months now. It moved around the room, in the closet, out of the closet. Finally I decided to give it to charity — but they wouldn’t take it. So now it is in the garage. Anyone need a TV? (Works fine, Matt and I are just too blind to read the menu for the satellite on it.)
- If you buy stuff from Amazon in the States and ship it to Canada they will charge you an import fee in addition to the shipping — which may cost you as much as a third of your total order. If you buy stuff from Amazon.ca there is no import fee and you can qualify for super-saver shipping. Figures.
That’s enough for one week.
