Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

I’m back …

What a whirlwind life has been lately!  I officially left my job at Brown Smith Wallace/ Benefit Plans Plus at the end of June.  I’m not totally sure what I’ll be doing next – I have two classes at Lindenwood for the Fall and that is all I will get there due to the fact that they do not want to offer health care – so I either need to find more schools that need adjunct faculty, find a full-time teaching solution without a PhD, arrange ALOT of tutoring and editing freelance jobs or consider something else.  It’s frustrating but I will continue to network and hope that something will come through at the 11th hour. In the meantime we are having Camp Mom.

First camp destination – Las Vegas/Utah to visit my Dad and Marilyn. We split our time between the trailer at a beautiful spot in Pine Valley, Utah just outside of St. George and the air conditioned splendor of their mountain home.  Highlights included incredible views, chasing chickens at a rodeo, a water balloon fight with Papa Beck, a down-home parade and a night in Vegas watching the knights joust. (Photos will come soon, if I ever sit down long enough to look at all the pics) Here’s one taken from the trailer window — not a bad way to wake up.

After a week in a heatwave we came back home to our renovation realities … This bathroom renovation has caused a ripple in the whole house.

To make room for the bathroom the closet needed to be emptied, which pushed the adult clothes onto temporary racks in the guest room, which was fine until they fell over like dominoes. So into the boys closets went our clothes and out came the boys clothes – which then had to be sorted for season and size – and now we need to have a yard sale.

Now that we have reconfigured the closet with a fancy new closet system and have far less hanging space than before. My solution was to purchase a retro dresser to put into the closet – of course Matt deemed it too big, so into the guest room it went – thus displacing the desk and nightstand that were there.  Now we are trying to figure out shoes – my shoes to be exact – I just can’t seem to convince him that I can’t get down to 8 pairs.

(blue before, brown after)
And since the house is already upside down why not just start going through room by room in an attempt to collect enough items for the decent yard sale trigged by the domino clothes racks.  There is quite the pile in my garage at present.  BUT I did manage to get my car back into the garage yesterday – the first time since the beginning of May! And did I mention it’s HOT AND HUMID here and my car interior is BLACK. But the bathroom is coming together – and I just picked up the shower tile today.  There may be an end in sight – we even have a toilet paper holder and a place to hang towels! Matt and our Dad’s can do some amazing work (and I try when they let me)

So here I sit at the Rec Plex pool, utilizing the fancy new ipad keyboard (courtesy of my Dad)- which is totally making my life so much easier – I can type again! Guess I’m old fashioned  but I really like my home row keys. The swimming was a bribe to get the boys to keep cleaning – so far camp mom has had a lot of manual labor. But they have had some fun – i’ll try to post some of their claymation creations on YouTube – if I can figure out how.
In the meantime know that I am thinking of you as I post more items on eBay and sort through yet another box of lego bits.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
