Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

It’s Never Good When They Tell You Help Is On The Way …

Last Monday the gas company came out to replace our meter (why they needed to do this, I don’t know.) So about 15 minutes after the service person arrived he knocked on the door to tell me, “the good news is help is on the way.” When you’re playing with gas, that isn’t necessarily good news.

Turns out the pipes were rotten in the ground and the removal was just enough to break them. Now in most cases the gas would seep up into the dirt and not be that big of a deal. Of course this wasn’t most cases and the ground was supersaturated from what would have been 8 inches of snow in rain form. Yeah, the gas went into the basement instead.

After declaring with the weird clicking thing that it was not enough gas to be harmful we were allowed to stay in the stinky house. (So long as we didn’t turn anything on in the basement.) I escaped briefly with the boys to grab some food, but otherwise we were hanging out upstairs.

It was five guys, three trucks, one hole in the lawn and 7 hours later we had our heat restored. And all is right in the world, for now anyway.

  1. Nice! Hope the turtles weathered it well.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
