Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

Checking in …

Hoping everyone had a wonderful Labor Day and that you are now settling in to the rhythm of the school year and the fall. We are — slowly, begrudgingly.

2nd grade seems to be fitting Tyler well so far (we’ll get some official reading tests on Friday, so keep your fingers crossed.) He is starting the Accelerated Reading program more reading practice — he’s just SO enthused about it 😦 One of these days things are going to click — I just have to believe they will. He loves Science and Art and I have to keep a close eye on my recycling bin — if I’m not careful all of my trash is turned into rockets, bug houses or some kind of weapon.

Morgan is taking Kindergarten in stride. Maybe it helps that he’s gotten into the practice of homework after dinner with Tyler — it’s not really a huge change — but he does complain that he doesn’t get to play much at school. So far all “blue days” (days with out disciplinary action from the teacher) and big hugs when he gets off the bus.

Matt and I have been making the transition to a new computer with Vista — and the conversion has taken a bit of time — finding a way to move from Microsoft Money to Quicken has been our biggest stumbling block (mainly because Microsoft is selling Money any more and won’t support it either). Matt’s even started editing our wedding videos together. (He’s waiting on my to finish a photo slide show so he can finish and call it done — it’s on the list of things I’m getting to.) Guess he can start with the tapes of the kids next.

I was trapped in the basement for a good deal of the weekend. Despite my repeated efforts it just seems to explode, regularly. Matt has indicated that most of the “explosions” in our house are my doing — I do not claim full responsibility — dealing with the piles of paper and craft doings created by our darlings is not for the meek and if you fall behind for even a single day you lose the counter top completely.

Must get back to work — articles to write, website to update. OH — one last thing, I’m officially enrolled at Lindenwood and will start the Media Management cluster at the beginning of October (I even have two papers due on the first day of class.)

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
