Happy Holidays! A year in review – where do I start? Well I drafted this letter at the pediatrician’s office – so little has changed. It’s a really good thing I work part-time. The boys are growing like crazy and it seems to me they just get taller and louder every year.
Last year I made the perilous mistake of telling you it was a year without hospital stays – what many of you may not know is that I mailed the card from the hospital where I spent about a week after surgery for what started off as an appendectomy but ended up being a colon resection. Word of advice – eat fiber.
First grade has been a big adjustment for us. Apparently I missed the memo that said Tyler was supposed to learn to read over the summer. So we’re playing catch-up everyday. Otherwise he’s doing well – he’s a scientist at heart with plans to be a paleontologist or a Pokemon trainer and he’s not sure if he should marry Liz or Zoe.
Morgan is precocious as ever and everyday I just hope he uses the force for good and does not go over to the dark side. There are some days I swear it is a toss up. I’m telling you we somehow got the kid intended for my sister. But you know what, we love how he keeps us on our toes. (The pictures say it all!)
Matt and I celebrated our 10th anniversary with a much-anticipated trip to Hawaii. Our visit to Pearl Harbor was haunting and Kauai is a postcard paradise I hope you too will experience some day.
Not much to report on the work front. I switched to working with a different group but still doing the same stuff. Do have some news though – it looks like both Morgan and I will be going off to school next fall where I’ll be starting a graduate program in Digital Media at Lindenwood University.
Still don’t know what Matt does, but I do know he leaves the house and comes home everyday and the paychecks come in on schedule. Makes for short dinner conversation.
Our extended families are doing well. My Dad and his girlfriend, Marilyn, are splitting time between Park City and Mesquite, Nevada will plans to settle in Mesquite when the PC house sells. Mindy and Brian did a short stint just outside Hilton Head, South Carolina and decided the water was bluer in Florida so off they went again. They are outside Orlando and making the most off all the attractions. My in-laws are as sweet and helpful as ever and I know we would be so lost without them. Matt’s brother Scott has gotten tenure at the University of British Columbia so it looks like we will have a place to stay in Vancouver for some time to come.
I hope this letter finds you happy, healthy and looking forward to a promising new year.
All of our love always –
Danielle, Matt, Tyler & Morgan
