With the start of school also means the kick-off of school fundraising season. Tyler’s school does the Hawk Walk to collect donations for the Parent Teacher Organization.
This year I decided Tyler was old enough to call his grandparents and ask for support.
In advance we practiced the script. “I’m raising money for my school, will you sponsor me.” We practiced at least 5 times. So dialing for dollars we go. I hand him the phone and gently nudge him along. It’s his big moment …
“Grandma, will you give me some of your money?”
So close but yet so far.
