Remember the Disneyland commercial from a few years back where the little boy stage whispers “I’m too excited to sleep” — well that’s me today.
The St. Paddy’s day parade is today and our little group, along with oh maybe 500 other crazy women, will be marching along in our green finery in the second largest St. Patrick’s day parade in the country sporting our wigs, sequins and pink shoes (I have pink go go boots).
This has been so much fun — when else do you get to wander around in public with a tiara and a boa? Think girls weekend where you don’t have to drive or plan anything but what you are going to wear. And oh, what to wear — these women have amassed a collection of sequins, rhinestones, tiaras and other things shiny and otherwise tacky that would make many people “turn tail and run”. And of course we don’t have nearly enough being the parade virgins we are. I can easily see this as an annual event — so mark your calendars now, third weekend in March, Jackson, Mississippi — Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon at a bare minimum. And if you see anything rhinestone, sequined or otherwise shiny start collecting now, I’m serious.
(FYI — if you’re not one of the original Queen’s you’re a Wannabe)
