Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

A radical appendectomy …

This is not what I had in mind. OK — I guess I owe you a little bit of background. Wednesday morning about 2:30 am I drove myself over the the ER — my lower belly was so tender and I had a lot of the same feelings when my gallbladder went berserk, so I figured I’d better get myself in.

A few hours later, I was on the surgical table to have my appendix removed. Turns out my appendix wasn’t the culprit — but instead it was a case of Diverticulitis — an extra balloon of gross on my colon (Which was right over the top of the appendix so the Cat Scan was right — it’ just had the wrong organ ) Which means they cut out the bad section and sewed it all back together (and they took the appendix while they were in there as well. Added bonus — 5 to 7 day recovery time in the hospital. And in 6 weeks I’ll have a colonoscopy, oh joy!

I’m feeling much better today, I’m getting up and out of bed without assistance. The drugs are making me a bit loopy though — I’ve had quite a time getting even this much written.

Thanks for the flowers and well wishes. All I want for Christmas is to get back home.

And when(and if) you get your holiday card from us you’ll see the irony in all of this.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
