We fell for it, we took the kids to see Walking With Dinosaurs, an animatronic dinosaur show created by the BBC. It was pretty amazing, huge robotic dinosaurs, lots of special effects.
We spent a considerable amount of time before the show prepping, these are robots, they are not real, they cannot hurt you. What did we forget — oh just Tyler’s fear of heights, that our seats in the top most bowl of the Scott Trade Center would send him into a complete tailspin. And while we’re on the subject — don’t get tickets for a show there in the upper bowl cause all of the lighting equipment can block your view.
During this time Tyler repeatedly asked if there were going to be more dinosaurs, I kept answering just be patient “But Mom, I’ve been patient my WHOLE life.”
Luckily at intermission we were able to move down to the empty expensive seats. (No, I didn’t really expect it to be long enough to warrant an intermission — Tyler chimed in “This is longer than Scooby Doo and the Vampires” ) Then the T-Rex appeared, which was LOUD — thus setting off Morgan. So I spent the second half of the show holding my hands over Morgan’s ears.
All in all it went well and the boys want to know if we can go again.
And what did I learn about dinosaurs? They spent a lot of time thinking about food, looking for food, fighting about food (and girls) and occassionally eating food (and geting some). I guess not much has changed on the evolutionary end of things has it.
