Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

So we said goodbye …

We joined by friends and loved ones as we placed Mom’s ashes among many loved ones at the Park City Cemetery. It was short and sweet — and we all did a shot of really nasty, cheap tequila in her honor. I’m including what we put together to be read:

We all come together here today to remember a woman who embodied the spirit of “Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much.” In the past six months we have come to realize the deep impact she had on all of our lives and the void she has left will be felt for decades to come.

We could say that when Lani was born they threw away the mold – but that is too cliché to mark a life as unique as hers.

Lani never wanted to “be old” and a burden to others – it seems she got her wish. What appeared to be a normal Christmas season ended much too soon and what should have been a happy new year was instead a catastrophic event that has changed all of our lives forever.

As a woman who lived her life to the fullest, Lani made the most of the nearly 61 years she shared with us. Be it traveling or making sure she had seen to the needs of hers and all of the extended families that adopted her as their own.

Lani was a friend to all who knew her, a mentor for countless Realtors, students and girl scouts through the years.

Her legacy will be one we will never forget; we will aspire to attain her devotion to others, her amazing attention to detail and her “left handed” way of seeing the world from a different perspective.

Mom and Dad were so lucky have celebrated 35 years of marriage on December 12 – to have two daughters, two sons-in-law and four delightful grandchildren. You can see a little of her in each of them. May each of their lives be further enriched by their Guardian angel.

Lani’s philosophy of life was “There is a right way, a wrong way and Lani’s way.” And that says it all.

May she forever soar above with the Golden Eagles and know that we will always love her.

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
