Hello —
I hate to put it so bluntly, but there is no other way to say it, Mom is in the ICU at Barnes Jewish St. Peters Hospital, St Peters, MO.
She has pneumonia and was put on a ventilator early this morning.
Background:
They arrived from Utah Wednesday evening 12/28. Mom was sick, but we thought it was just a bad cold.
Thursday, 12/29 — Still sick, could tell she was feeling terrible, but still getting around.
Friday, 12/30 — Still sick, didn’t come over all day. By about 9 p.m. Dad took her to the ER. (Matt and I were in Carlinville visiting with some of Matt’s friends who were in town.) I drove straight to the ER.
I arrived at about 10:30. She was trying to convince the Docs that she didn’t need to be admitted.
Saturday 12/31 — Admitted to hospital.
Sunday 1/1 — Moved to ICU — getting worse not better. 11:30 She calls and asks Dad to come back over. Dad and I head to hospital where she was raising all kinds of a ruckus. She was ready to check herself out and head over to the Hampton Inn. Finally the doc told her that the insurance will not pick up any of the bill if she left against medical orders. I left at about 2 ish, she was kinda resting.
Monday 1/2 — 3 a.m. Tornado warnings start going off. Great.
Early AM put on ventilator. (Dad was was still over there and gave the OK)
Current status — improving some, still knocked out so she doesn’t pull the tube out.
We’ll keep you posted as things go along.
Love always —
Danielle
