Life With Boys

The mis-adventures of two crazy boys and their bleary eyed parents.

Holiday Greetings 2005 …

Hello –

I’ve been putting off writing this letter in hopes that some kind of creative genius will hit, but it hasn’t, so I guess I’ll just do the best I can.

Life is St. Louis is moving right along. Any day the kids manage to stay alive and remain relatively unscathed is a good day. (I swear Morgan is definitely testing the fates on this one!)
Tyler turned 4 at the beginning of the month and has asked Santa to bring him a duck. We’re still not sure why he needs another rubber duck for the bathtub, but that’s what he has requested on many occasions. (I feel better though, my niece, Taylor, asked for suckers and dog bones.) He’s constantly surprising me and keeps Matt and I in stitches most of the time we’re not screaming at him. He’s turning into such an amazing little person and I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.

Morgan is 20 months and as the day care woman puts it “He’s just all boy.” He’s afraid of nothing and has the scars to prove it. He starts our mornings at 5ish with roll call – “Where tire (Tyler)? Where dad? Where cat? Milk? Where anne-knee-mauls?” and things just keep going from there. I can’t get him to stay still enough to consume a meal in one sitting and he’s asserting his opinions (mostly “no”) whenever he sees fit (all the time.) The pediatrician once told me that “I think this is going to be your challenging one.” He’s been right so far – and Tyler has been by no means easy. But I’m learning that is part of life with boys.

For more about the mis-adventures of Tyler and Morgan visit: my blog – I try to keep it relatively up to date.

It seems that Matt has been busy painting and fixing up the house for at least 4 months now and I think there is an end in sight. We’ve established a rhythm now – he paints and I remove the boys from the house so he can paint. It sure draws out the process, but it’s looking really good (if I do say so myself.) When not wielding a paint brush, Matt’s winding up the kids right before bedtime and continues to try to explain to me what he does for a living as an “aerodynamicist.”

I’ve been busy as usual. My work load has increased as I accepted a promotion to serve as the web “mistress” for our company. This means I now oversee several websites and am learning all I can about intranets – my big project for next year. My other job (Mom) keeps me on my toes and leaves little room for other activities, but I am still active in the Tri Delta Alumnae chapter (they were crazy enough to ask me to serve as the president this year) and my monthly book club meetings are a godsend. I’ve still got my sights set on finishing my Grandmother’s memoir and maybe I’ll finish it by the time the boys set off for college.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year.

If you’re ever near St. Louis, drop by. You’re always welcome.
Otherwise – keep in touch, we miss you and hope to hear from you soon.

Love always –

Danielle, Matt, Tyler & Morgan

About Me

I started this site so my mom could get news about her grandkids without me having to walk her through the process of trying to open and email attachment several times a week.  Since then she has passed away and I’ve fallen off the blog wagon, but I’m inspired to pick it up again now.
